The meal was an adventure. So - seems like consistency is a challenge. A fantastic experience- only markdown for ambience because we ate outside- inside is gorgeous! I look forward to returning to The Charles often. For our entrees, I had perfectly prepared swordfish served with very fresh succatash.

How is The Charles - Wethersfield restaurant rated? The food was top notch (Duck and Pasta as entrees and Calamari as an app), craft cocktails were spot on and a nice wine list as well. Digital, disposable or sanitized menu provided, Diners must wear masks unless eating or drinking. Excellent service and ambiance. This was my fourth or fifth visit to The Charles. Mine was the Tomahawk pork chop with cheesy grits and braised kale.

We will definitely come back. The Charles in Old Wethersfield, CT, looks like a fancy-schmancy restaurant, but the prices will surprise you. MIL and her BF had the Sunday Sauce and Shrimp Fra Diavlo which they both loved. great spot outside on a gorgeous fall day! We sat outside under the tent but the inside is done very tasteful and clean. The ambience, waitstaff, beverages, dinners and dessert were all EXCELLENT ! Sandwiches were tasty and went well with the draft Unicorn farm IPA and chardonnay. Went to The Charles this past Saturday evening, and our experience completely lived up to positive reviews we’ve read. Old Wethersfield was hopping on Sunday, families out to see the scarecrows all along Main Street. He took the time to answer our questions about the menu & made perfect recommendations. What a great addition to Old Wethersfield! We'll keep going the the Charles. So happy to have such a nice restaurant in Wethersfield! Excellent food, great service and amazing atmosphere with outside dining thru November!! We recommend this restaurant and we'll be going back. And highly recommend it! The presentation was beautiful & they were delicious. I had the Osso Bucco as recommended by George our server, who was attentive and friendly! The dishes were unique and delicious. Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. They were very nice to my dog also.

We enjoyed all of our appetizers including the calamari, avocado toast, deviled eggs and a special shrimp appetizer the owner sent over. But I know they were are very happy with their choices. Wright served as a militia captain in the Revolutionary War. Phenomenal lunch. Highly recommend!

My husband had shrimp fra diavolo and the couple we were with both had steak frites. It is a tuxedo dining experience on a blue jeans budget. Big tent on the lawn with heat. You can find free parking at the local fire station or library and walk along the sidewalk to get here. Yes, you get a fancy atmosphere, fancy service, great food, but you do not break the bank. MIL had the Deviled Eggs which she said were tasty. However, Service was better on day 2 - even though there were many more diners. Great location. Excellent service and ambiance. There is spacious outdoor dining as well as indoor limited seating due to Covid.
